COVID-19 coronavirus: New restrictions have been introduced March 2020 for visiting yachts, most importantly that Ports of Entry are now limited to just HONIARA or NORO. See biosecurity for details.

For full details on clearing into and out of these Islands see Formalities.

Contact Port Control on VHF Channel 09 and they will contact Customs.

Anchor near the Point Cruz Yacht Club and go ashore to visit the relevant Customs and Immigration officials.  It is advisable to go ashore the day you arrive.

Ashore, customs can be found at the commercial wharf (to the left out of the yacht club) and immigration about 1/2 km past the Mendana Hotel opposite the Post Office. A phone number is posted at the Yacht Club dinghy dock for Quarantine.

Formalities cover the full range of officials – customs, immigration, health, quarantine.

This is one of two places (Noro being the other) where it’s possible to clear in with all officials on the same day. However, cruisers advise beginning to check in early as it takes most of the day (with officials being in three different places) and is a lengthy process.

Fees:

Cruisers clearing in at Honiara on Guadalcanal report the following fees (June 2019):

Yacht Clearance Fee:  US$18 per meter

Customs:  SBD$1900

Quarantine:  SBD$200

Immigration:  SBD$1000 ($500 in/$500 out)
