Popped into George Town to check into the Bahamas from the west coast walking up a dirt track to the main road. We were picked up straight away by a very friendly women who we later found out to be a tourist department helper. Who we would like to thank. We all had to be present at the immigration office which is a bit of a change to the usual stay on yacht till you are cleared in. Everyone was great and our (so called) taxi driver was very helpful taking us back to the boat, stopping at a couple of places. Customs were the most friendly I had come across in the Caribbean/Bahamas.
The numbers for Brown’s Marine Repair are out of service. Try 242-336-3330
Top II Bottom is a hardware/general store that, here in the islands, has quite a supply of random items. Plumbing, electrical, housewares, kids stuff, fishing and snorkelling, hardware, etc. Worth it to walk the aisles and see what they have.

More Theft In Georgetown
Published October 29, 2015 | By oceaned
Georgetown, Exuma is experiencing a higher rate of thefts than I have ever seen, and I have been involved here since 1990. In the last several weeks two dinghies with outboards have been stolen from cruising boats. Also, Mary Wheaton on Stocking Island has had her Boston Whaler and engine stolen from her ramp when it was pulled out of the water.
This does not bode well for the nearing cruising season. All cruisers who are planning to visit or spend any time in Georgetown should reconsider their safety measures for their dinghies and outboard engines.
