Biloxi (Mississippi Sound) - Docking

It may come to a surprise to some cruisers, but the outlet of the Mississippi River is not actually in the state of Mississippi. The entire coast of Mississippi is only 63 miles long but entirely enclosed by the Mississippi Sound and a series of barrier islands that protect it.

There are three significant cities on this coast and all have good facilities for cruising.

Last update March 2017.

Anchorage

There are literally dozens of anchorages all around the Mississippi Sound. All of the outer barrier islands offer good anchorages and protection can be found in all kinds of weather. All of the barrier islands are scarcely populated (if at all).

Biloxi likely offers the best anchorages near a large population center.

The Pascagoula Inner Harbor and Lake Yazoo are reported shoaled at the entrance to extremely shallow, only for the shallowest-draught vessels.
