Electricity:

  • Voltage: 230 V
  • Frequency: 50 Hz

The standard, dual round pin European plug is used.

Water:

Water and electricity are available at all marinas.

LPG/Gas:

The most common type of gas is propane and it is widely available at Lukoil fuel stations. Also at some chandleries.

Fuel:

Fuel berths are not usually present in marinas, so it is necessary to visit the nearest fuel station and transport it to the boat in jerry cans.

Getting Work Done:

If repairs or haulout are needed, then Port Tomis (Constantza) is the best port to use. The other Romanian ports/marinas have very limited repair services.

Provisioning:

Supermarkets and food stores are common in most of the larger towns but some of the marinas have limited provisioning facilities.

Navigation:

Main-Danube Canal: Romania can now be reached by a more direct way than through the Mediterranean thanks to the opening of the 107NM long Main-Danube canal. This new canal has made it possible to sail across the entire continent of Europe, from the mouth of the Rhine, on the North Sea, to the mouth of the Danube, on the Black Sea. The 2179NM long waterway can be used by boats drawing no more than 8 ft (2.5 m) and with an air clearance of 19.5 ft (6 m), so as to be able to pass under the many bridges. Some bridges were destroyed during the conflict in 1999 and river traffic may be restricted.

Danube-Black Sea Canal: Cruising yachts may use this canal, which starts near Constanta and bypasses the Danube Delta. There are certain height restrictions both in the canal and on the Danube and most yachts will have to lower their masts before entering the canal.
