VHF Comms:

  • Ch 16 is the calling channel for Search and Rescue and Ch 11 is the working channel for SAR.
  • Polish yachtsmen communicate on Ch 06 and Ch 10. (Ch 06 is most often used)
  • Fishermen use Ch 68, 69 and 77.
  • Ch 10 should not be used in the area of Wladyslawowo and Hel as it is the Port Control frequency.
  • Ch 06 should not be used in the Gdansk area where it is the channel used by the Coast Guard.
  • Majority of Polish Ports work on Ch 12 with Gdansk on Ch 14.
  • Ch 71 should not be used as it is used by Port Control and others.
  • NAVTEX Transmissions from Gislovshamnar (Station J at 09:30 and 21:30 UTC) should normally be received on the Polish Coast.

To avoid high roaming charge, it’s recommended to buy a prepaid sim card in Poland. The 4G/5G network in Poland is good and data packages are very cheap. Note – a Polish sim card won’t work anywhere else in Europe.

Internet:

Most internet hot spots have poor coverage and are very slow. There are a multitude of internet cafes.

    Along the polish coast there is a large number of military shooting ranges, which are mapped as forbidden areas. These areas however are only forbidden during exercises. Internet site https://bhmw.gov.pl/en/warnings/current/ has a map of the military activities and other navigational warnings. Additionally a PDF can be downloaded for each area with the dates the area is closed. The PDF is in Polish and English

    Just four miles S from Dziwnow breakwater and bridge which opens any even hour. Follow the buoyed channel which is 2m deep.
    Marina Kamien Pomorski is one of the biggest and most modern marinas in Poland.
