While there are apparently no travel restrictions for visiting boats, cruisers have reported to Noonsite about being told by harbour staff in Le Port, La Reunion, not to visit Madagascar and that several boats had been refused access in the last several months. One vessel that had cause to seek shelter from weather was apparently carefully monitored to prevent shore access and given a military escort away from the country when the weather improved. Description:
This port lies on the southern end of the east coast of Madagascar. Currently, it has a rather run-down appearance.
