Shimoda - Docking
There are three berthing options here:
a) Moor alongside the outer-most boat of a chain of boats mooring at Inozawa River. Water and toilets are available at the gas station. The water tap near the river is locked.
b) Moor on the pontoon managed by Shimoda Boat Service downstream in the Inozawa River. This pontoon has water and power.
c) Moor at the long pontoon in front of Shimoda Boat Service office in the east area of the port. This pontoon is away from downtown.
The first two options are most convenient for the bathhouse and restaurants etc.

We found Shimoda an excellent anchorage when we visited in May, 2014. A new breakwater is under construction which should render the anchorage safe in a typhoon. The only downside was the hourly circuit of the “black ship” replica through the anchorage.
The private dock was available but expensive. The operator of the private dock will dinghy to your boat to complete customs clearance.
