I should have known better. Everyone I had ever mentioned the words Porto Cervo with told me NEVER to go. Sailing with wife and kids – wanted to check the box and visit once. Called and asked cost for two nights and was told €440night – told them I would stay one night.
Arrived, got boat squared away, had lunch and went to check in. Was told quote on phone was wrong and that price was €730 a night (difference between 4.5 and 5 meter beam). Should have left but kept waiting for them to acknowledge it was their mistake and fix it. Never happened.
Bottom line – they don’t care. The Marina is empty on a Friday night in July. They fleece the few super yachts for enough – no one else matters – they don’t want you there. Just hoping that others don’t make the same stupid mistake I did – DON’T GO TO PORTO CERVO!!!
Definitely not that interesting stop for a cruiser, the town is completely artificial.
The facilities in Porto Vecchio are a joke, you get better toilets and showers in youth hostels.
July, 12m monohull, ~180€ / night
Porto Cervo is not worth a stop. The town isn’t that interesting, the cost is too high, facilities are mediocre at best and it’s so very noisy. There are many better choices not too far away.
July 2015, for a 13-meter catamaran, was €70/night on a mooring.
