Haifa - Docking
Marina:
The Shavit Marina is situated to the north of town in the old Kishon fishing harbour.
Note: In late February/early March 2023, the marina will begin a maintenance programme to dredge the marina, which is scheduled to take about two months. During this time they will not be able to accept visitors.
The marina has 100 fishing boats and approx. 300 berths for yachts, but is quite congested with local vessels. Due to its land-locked position (inside Haifa Harbour) it is considered the safest marina in Israel, although the facilities are fairly minimal. All berths have electricity and water connections and there are sailor’s showers.
In the marina there are a couple of good marine stores, a small coffee shop and convenience store. A local sailor in the marina does good value sail repairs. Parking is easy and there is a green park close by.
Ashore:
Town is a car/taxi ride away and taxis into town are expensive (approx. 100 shekels ($25)). However the locals are very friendly and many will offer you a lift.

All the above information is correct as of January 2019. The Ministry of Interior office has moved and they are now at Sderot HaPalyam 15 in the lower downtown area of the city.
There is a tremendous amount of boat and ship traffic near the entrance to the marina due to the construction of a new port and breakwater adjacent
The Carmel Sailing community, which replaced the Carmel yacht club in 2016, is a big group of sailors and yacht owners mainly in the Haifa area who arrange and participate in sailing related events. The community will be more than happy to offer guidance and assistance to boaters arriving in Haifa. You can contact them via email shayatei.hacarmel@gmail.com
As of 2015, the actual port of entry is inside the Kishon harbor (Shavit Port) and not in the main commercial port.
There is no need anymore to call the immigration police – the navy boat that meets any in-coming vessel alerts the authorities that will wait for you at the dedicated visitors dock at the entrance to Shavit port. Entry procedures operate 24/7 all year except Yom Kippur (Atonement day). Yom Kippur has no fixed Julian date but is normally in Sep/Oct.
