We have wintered DéDanann🇮🇪 here on the Island of Aegina for a few years now.
We are back in the water in the port of Aegina. The port is busy with mostly charter boats and many of them are large catamarans taking up two and three berths which fill the ports very fast.
It’s very noticeable how few British cruisers or tourists about these past few years.
The new cruising tax Tepai must be paid before hitting the water, we have our boat yard do the application for us and up to this year took the document to any bank to pay. This year the banks have refused to take payment unless you hold an account with them. However, it can easily be paid at the post office.
It can also be done online if your good with this tech stuff.
The weather is just nice, sunny days, cool at night for sleeping.
    Happy Days😊

Souvala is a little gem of a small fishing port where the living is easy and a nice port for to relax in fair weather. It is on the North coast with mooring side on to the pier at the entrance for two boats in depths of 2.4 meters. There is room for a few boats to anchor off the breakwater and take a line back to the rocks and dinghy in/out to the village.
Some grand taverna’s with some of the best food in Aegina.
Anchoring outside the port in 10 meters in fair weather also.
The rest of the port is very shallow so caution is needed if coming in at night.

Currently wintering our Amel super Maramu ashore in the Asprakis boat yard for the last two years.
So far so good, the boats are well looked after by the family who own this yard. The facilities are basic and probably not ideal for live aboard, they are ok for a short spell to prepare for launching. The storage costs are reasonable and they have carried out hull repairs and any works we want done at reasonable rates.
Very handy for easy transfer to Athens airport. Great port to spend time, good shops, tavernas etc.

      Hi,

Which yard were/are you in? I’m in Takis Boatyard and wondering what the other neighbouring yards are like.
      Cheers

I am currently wintering on the hard with my Oyster 395 Lightwave at Planaco (Aegina/Greece). Monthly fee is 250.- Euro (water electricity exclusive). Lifting in/out is 150.- Euro per lift).

You are allowed to stay on board and do all work yourself. The boatyard is 8km from the main town, 2,5km away from Kipseli (little village but huge supermarket) and 4km away from Souvala (little village).

All spare parts available. Worst case you take the ferry to Piraeus (8.- Euros one way). Friendly staff and entire boat under video surveillance.

Careful when you use the anchorage south of Port of Aegina. There are remainings of ancient walls 1-2 meters below the surface. Easy to make the grounding and damage the keel. The walls are south part of the anchorage.

For the last 3 years, I have hauled out in Asprakis Boatyard on the northern shore. The yard is well equipped with a travel lift and hydraulic trailers and the family running it have proved very competent in operating them. The facilities in the yard are fairly basic but there are a few Tavernas within walking distance. The rates are very competitive and the yard is generally full by the end of the season.
