Port Thasos

There are two harbors here: the old harbor and the new port – Nea Limani – to the west. Both offer good protection.

The old harbor tends to be pretty full with local craft, all except the northern breakwater, suitable for smaller yachts. Most yachts, however, will probably have to anchor of with a long line ashore to avoid underwater rocks and get ashore by dinghy. There is water available on the quay.

Nea Limani (Limenias) to the west of the old harbor has a new marina with berthing on both breakwaters and is where most visiting yachts tend to berth. Most of the time alongside berthing, or rafting, is possible here. If busy, yachts can go stern or bows-to in the SE corner of the quay where power and water are available.

Limenaria

This harbor is located on the SW corner of Thassos. A 280 berth new marina opened here in 2019 with water and electricity.

    Data Entry5 says:

June 2017 – There is a new marina being built at Liminaria, southern Thassos. From what is there now it is likely to be a substantial marina, likely with pontoons and laid moorings.

Due to be completed in May 2018 – maybe. Currently, it is sometimes possible to berth alongside although it is still a building site, no services, no fees, no contact details. Mooring suspended sometimes due to construction work.

The old port is mainly used by day tripper boats and small fishing boats, there does not seem to room for others.

Go along side the break water in the new port, or when busy drop anchor and go bow or stern to. Power and water are only available from berth close to town, not sure how to arrange for it.

We have been told that in strong North Westerlies the east breakwater might not be tenable, damage to the power/water outlets seem to support this.
