Skiros - Docking

There are many anchorages around the island, but the main port is Linaria, midway down the south-west coast.

Linaria

This is a very organised and friendly port with services orientated around visiting yachts, although it’s not the cheapest you will find in Greece. It offers excellent shelter from the Meltemi.

The port has its own website (see below), with detailed information in English for visiting yachts and good photos, a webcam etc.

There are lazy lines available on the quayside. Boats of LOA greater than 25 meters (82 ft) can drop anchor but at distance of at least 45 meters (150 ft) from the dock. Water, power and WiFi are all included in the mooring fees. Showers on the far side of the quay are reported to be clean and well maintained.

During the summer there are personnel available to assist with berthing. Call VHF Channel 09 for assistance. Also during the summer the ferry docks further out next to the lighthouse (see photo), leaving much more quay space available for visiting yachts.

The marina depths vary (3.5 meters to 10 meters.)

Ashore there are 3 or 4 family-run tavernas, a couple of bakeries and a small “supermarket”.

Have berthed here a couple of times in the past few years. Harbour staff very welcoming. Water, power, wifi part of the mooring fees. Shore showers etc just across the quay were clean and well maintained when we were there last. There are 3 or 4 family run taveras, a couple of bakeries and small “supermarket. The ferry from the mainland arrives around 1900 most days and is a major event. The port area becomes busy for 10 /15 minutes before and after the ferry docks. A bus meets the ferry for transport into the main Chora.
