The warnings about Patitiri are mild compared to the reality that we experienced. There was not a lot of wind (F5 max), but the swell was such that we almost locked masts with the neighbouring Oc393. Not a good place to go at all. There are places to anchor off. The small harbour nearby is not a solution either for most cruising yachts. It is too small.
In even light N and NE winds aswell works into Patitiri causing a nasty surge on the quay. In a strong wind, this could cause damage to boats.
