    I have just received confirmation from The Guarda Frontera that the anchorage and mooring balls in Maria La Gorda are closed until further notice. Cruising boats will not be permitted to anchor or use the mooring balls. The reason that was given is that the moorings are in poor condition and the anchorage has been deemed unsafe.

    Repairs will be made to the moorings and when they are completed the port will re-open. Until that occurs however mariners should plan to skip Maria La Gorda in their cruising plans. Stay tuned to Cuba, Land and Sea as we will update the situation as it evolves.
