Description:

Guernsey lies about 27NM west of the Cherbourg peninsula on the north coast of France. St Peter Port is the capital of Guernsey and its principal port. It is an attractive little town with its steep cobbled streets and its busy harbour is located right in the centre of the town.

Cruiser Highlights:

Nearly all marine services and supplies can be found here but for liftout, it is necessary to move a few miles up the coast to St Sampson’s harbor or to Beaucette Marina. There are two very welcoming yacht clubs based in the harbor.

Entrance Notes and Cautions:

  • Notice March 2022: Russian flagged or registered yachts are not permitted to enter a port in the Bailiwick of Guernsey. See LNTM No. 007/2022.
  • This is a very rocky area so careful navigation is required, especially if approaching from the north. Caution is required at the entrance to the harbor as it is a busy ferry port and yachts cannot enter when a ferry is entering or leaving.
  • When the gates open into the inner harbor (Victoria Marina), it is important to wait for directions from the harbor staff otherwise chaos and damage can be caused.
  • In strong easterly winds, it is not always a comfortable berth, otherwise, it is a very sheltered harbor.

Position: 49° 27.33’N, 02° 31.51’W (harbor entrance)

    Data Entry1 says:

There is water available on the pontoons outside Victoria Marina, own hose required.
Rubbish recycling points are too far away to walk. There is a dumpster at the top of the pontoons outside the marina.

There are bins at the top of the Marina pontoon walkways but no recycling there.
The long pontoons in Victoria Marina have unusual cleats, you can’t throw a rope over them you have to get off and tie your rope through, maybe a problem if single or shorthanded sailing.
