Excellent boatyard with a very professional and friendly team! . They checked the position of slings underwater for this first hauling of Balder VIII in Pasito Blanco! We will come back! All specialists available as well for major repairs. The location is georgeous, quiet and safe. Supermarket very close.

We did spend few days in November at the Marina is preparation of our crossing to Cape Verde. We did reserve in advance, as the marina is crowded because of the ARC fleet in Las Palmas taking all berths.
The location is quiet and safe. A small beach is near by the which was enjoyed by the kids.
A small supermarket near the marina office is available or a bigger supermarket in a shopping center 5 to 10 min by car. Car rental is easy ask the Marina officers who are very friendly and helpful. For ship-chandler we went to Las Palmas at Rol nautic where you have a large choice of equipment (50 min by car) and enjoyed the visit to the city.
We did the maintenance of our engines by Pépé a Yanmar official. We were very pleased of his work. He works with his two sons, professional and friendly.
Very nice marina with good location, but beware – if you are hit by local boat you might become victim of an insurance scam. It works like this:
Marina calls to insurance company of local boat and organizes repair at their boatyard. Everything seems to be in order and taken care of. Boatyard then will say they want their money from you because they cannot wait insurance company. Sounds reasonable, everybody are so nice to you and after all inspector – let’s call him Barry C in this story – of insurance company has approved budget from boatyard. What could go wrong? You pay the invoice and happily continue your voyage after repairs where done and insurance company – let’s call it MALFÉ – will be taking care of reimbursement at later point of time.
The problem is – you will never hear from inspector nor MALFÉ again. No message, no money, no phone call. Inspector does not answer the phone or emails. You have been played.
If hit by local boat – do not in any circumstances pay repair yourself to boatyard. Even if repair budget is approved by inspector of MALFÉ. Boatyards are used to get their payments from insurance companies. There is no reason for you to pay it upfront.
We have been anchored here approximately 1 week. Strange that this anchoring isn’t mentioned on Noonsite as yet- it’s the busiest we have visited in the Canaries so far! Good holding close to the marina (some rocks but water is clear enough to avoid), marina staff allow the use of the fuel pontoon for quick supermarket trips (small Spar but good for most things including fresh fruit/vegetables).
Water is available on the fuel pontoon but we were advised it isn’t potable. Beach is within walking distance from town or a short dinghy ride (though we haven’t tried leaving the dinghy on the beach so not sure if this is acceptable). Jet skis and power boats do use the anchorage at times, but tour boats haven’t been too disruptive. Sheltered from North/North East winds and swell so good for swimming.
There is a massive increase of charter companies. With loud and unbehaved Russian, polish another east European customers. Most of them cannot navigate and damage your boat while parking in or getting out and leave without paying the damage. Drink parties until the crack of dawn. Leavin unbelievable filthy toilets.
This scene started around 2012 and getting worse every year. The charter boats starting to come in around November and leave April. Result also that there is hardly a berth free in that time span and then only during the week because the charters are mostly at the other islands making havoc there.
The port and especially its people are excellent always ready for a helping hand. But those charter companies should have their own designated place where they can damage each other’s boat. And have drink parties without disturbing cruisers who more than often, have children on board and think to go to Pasito Blanco for stocking up and a little rest before crossing the Atlantic.
