Porto Belo - Docking
There is a yacht club here with good facilities. Take care if asked to tie alongside the outer wall as the pier is tall and the lower freeboards of sailing vessels make this not a good choice. There are slips available to members only inside the pier.
There is free anchoring anywhere in the bay.
Cruisers have reported feeling very safe walking around the neighboring areas. There is a good mechanic at the yacht club and nearby repair facilities.
Provisioning is fair here.

YachtFlags.com provides high quality courtesy flags that are manufactured in durable Knitted Polyester fabric. Knitted so that the fabric itself does not deteriorate in the constant movement that marine flags are usually exposed to, and polyester so that the flag does not weaken in the strong UV-light usually found in the main sailing areas of the world.

The Iate clube Porto Belo is quite expensive. For our 44 ft yacht they quoted us RS 660 per day (the equivalent of € 220).
A good alternative is Itajai which is 15 miles north. It is not mentioned in any pilot book. The pontoons for the Volvo Ocean Race stopover are here. There are basic facilities (power, water). The berths are in the middle of town. Good provisioning, good connections by bus to other places in Brazil. In September 2014 we payed RS 1 per foot per day. First two days free. Pleasant city, lovely people. We feel very welcome here.
