Thursday Island - Transport & Travel
Airports & Flights
The airport is located on Horn Island. A regular daytime passenger ferry service operates between Thursday Island and Horn Island, then a minibus shuttle service between Horn Island jetty and the airport, connecting to the flights. Local airlines operate regular services to many of the outer islands.
Qantaslink (of Qantas Airlines) operates twice-daily service between Horn Island and Cairns. Aerotropics operate a regular service between Cairns and Bamaga on Cape York.
Buses
An inexpensive bus service with frequent bus stops operates on the island. Coach tours of the islands are available from Peddells Ferry & Tour Bus Service.
Ferries
A regular daytime passenger ferry service operates between Thursday Island and Horn Island. Cost $6 or $7 each way (Oct 2014).
Water Taxis
Occasionally available on Ch. 16 – better to use your own dinghy!
