Marinas:

There are marinas at Hamilton Island and at the Coral Sea Marina Resort in Airlie Beach (see photo) which can take vessels up to 80m.

Laguna Quays Marina is no longer open, however, the boat ramp is available for public use.

Shute Harbor suffered during Cyclone Debbie and is largely unused. There is no marina there but Whitsunday Rent a Yacht still operate there and have their own berths. No ferries use the harbor any more and now operate out of Port Airlie.

Anchorages and Moorings:

There are many safe anchorages, usually protected by reefs, among the Whitsundays, so in finding a safe haven for the night, you are spoilt for choice.

There are moorings available off Airlie Beach (ask at the yacht club) and plenty of free anchorage room in Pioneer Bay – Airlie Beach.

At Abell Point, there is a public anchorage outside the breakwater.

Shute Harbor offers a protected and secure anchorage and boats still moor there.

Maureen’s Cove (location 20° 04.10’S, 148° 56.32’E):
There are 3 public moorings in this cove on the northern side of Hook Island.

False Nara Inlet, Hook Island:
It is to the left of Nara Inlet and has 2 public moorings.

Cid Harbour:
This anchorage is located on the western side of Whitsunday Island and is both deep and well sheltered. There is a beach landing there.
