We anchored off the yacht club, where the people were friendly and we could use the showers. Dinghy landing can be challenging because of breaking waves. The town is good for provisioning, but we do not recommend the anchorage. It is quite exposed with anything but westerly winds.

We visited Puerto Madryn in November 2015.

The buoys in front of the Nautic Club are only for very small boats and not usable for yachts. Muelle Madryn only is usable for big boats – the pier is too high.

So we dropped our anchor just beside Muelle Madryn. We had some strong winds – but no problem with the anchor. When the wind changed we used Muelle Madryn as a windshield. But note: anchoring at S of Muelle Madryn officially is forbidden.

We had some strong easterly winds. In this case according to the books you should go to Pto. Piramide (which is about 35 miles across the Golfo Nuevo). But we could not get permission from the Prefecture for going there.

The people at the Yacht Club are very friendly and helpful. You can get a shower and some help there.
