Vlore - Clearance
See Albania Formalities for detailed Clearance Information.
On entering Albanian waters, call the Port Captain on their working channel of VHF 15 or on 16 (he speaks English).
Proceed to the main Vlore port.
Orikum Marina may also be able to deal with clearance formalities, contact the Manager in advance to confirm.
At Vlore Port, arriving yachts are directed to a berthing point on the commercial dock for clearing in (most likely alongside a tug) and requested to come to the official offices on shore, located between the two jetties, to deal with formalities. Clearance is required with Port Captain and Police.
Officials here do prefer you to use the services of an agent (50-60 Euros). See Albania Clearance Agents for details of the official Vlore agency.
Cruisers report that security here is poor and it is recommended to keep someone onboard when leaving the boat. See further comments from cruisers at bottom of page regarding fees payable here.

Seems like it’s not possible to haul out at all in Albania..? Sent a request to Orikum Marina ( the one and only) for wintering on the hard for my 35ft Colin Archer, but they have no such possibilities. They sent me an offer 390Euro per month in water. Staying in Greece 😉
We recently stayed overnight in Vlore. Around 80 euros again for pleasure. We did tie up against a tug for the night with no facilities, but this was expected. The town is not pretty but has supermarkets for supplies.
Was quite secure after the enterprising little sea urchins tried us for money/chocolate/biscuits in that order.
As we did not have time to go down to Orikum, it was sufficient and we would stay there again if need be. Suzette “Q”
We paid in Vlore’s harbour even if we didn’t stay for one night, on the top of the clearance 60 euros we had to pay 10 euros plus 15 for the service of the travel agent. Got to pay again the clearance in Durres three days later plus not only the travel agent but the harbour master 25 euros.
The marina is 32 euros per night and the manager tells us that the water is not drinkable! We did drink it and it was very fine but that tells how he sees us!
We went from Durres direct to Marina Orikum without calling at Vlores ((after speaking to Luigi at the marina) He did all the agency work himself. We tried to call Vlores harbour to advise them as we were passing but got no reply. Marina is excellent and very secure.
Posted on behalf of Tony Olin:
On approach to Vlore, we went into the old military port on the island of Sazant. The port looks derelict, we were chased off by some very aggressive soldiers, we then proceeded to the ferry port of Vlore and anchored off in 5m off the east pier – no need of agent if you don’t tie up or go ashore.
There are two other ports to the NW of Vlore, one is the oil terminal, the other an old fishing port that has less than 1.5m of water at the entrance, neither are suitable for sailing vessels.
The marina at Orikum is a few miles to the SE. Beware of the shallow waters around this area which is badly marked.

Entente channel to Marina is 2.7-3.0 m deep. The manager is Luigi, an Italian
Marina Orikum is not ant clearance from/to abroad. You need first to pass either Sarande, Vlore main Port, Durres or Shengjin.
If you visit the Marina, you will just have to pay for the berthing, do not pay any further agent/clearance fees. They are known to try it very often.
Triport doesn’t accept ant yacht.
