Saint Lucia, Rodney Bay, Reduit Beach: Dinghy & Outboard Thefts – September 2012
Dinghy and outboard thefts are common in the Caribbean. Be sure to secure both your dinghy and outboard at all times and always lift both out of the water at night and padlock them to the yacht.

We would like to report that on Monday evening (24 September 2012) the yacht anchored next to us off Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay had its dinghy and outboard stolen. It was locked on to the stern of the boat.
We subsequently find that this is the 5th such incident over the past 4 weeks and all have been reported to the authorities. It appears the outboard motors are the target as some of the dinghies have been recovered.
Once again it is “lift it, lock it or lose it”.
