Panama, Bahia Nombre de Dios: Armed Boarding, Assault and Robbery – November 2019

Yachts on passage between Linton Bay and the San Blas sometimes take refuge in this bay, but yachts must be careful and seriously consider the risks if stopping over at Bahia Nombre de Dios. This is the 2nd report of assault/robbery from this bay this year. Reported by CSSN.

DETAILS: 

A monohull was one of 2 or 3 boats anchored in Bahia Nombre de Dios.

At 20:30 HRS five (5) young Spanish speaking men, faces covered and armed with handguns, approached in silence and entered the cabin – guns first.

The 2 persons on board were taken by surprise and were slightly injured in the early scuffle, but cooperated as the armed men ransacked for about 30 minutes and stole cash, communications devices, electronics, and personal items.

The yacht departed immediately for Linton Bay that night, where they made reports to the police, coast guard, and port captain.
