DETAILS:
Between 5 and 8 July, an unoccupied boat moored in Mt. Hartman Bay was broken into. The minder discovered the external lock on the companionway gone and the interior thoroughly ransacked. Upon their return to the boat, the owners discovered that a computer had been taken.
Since this initial report, 7 other unoccupied yachts (total = 8) in a variety of locations in the same bay have been discovered to have also been broken into, ransacked and likely burgled as well. As the owners are currently absent, no additional details of what might be missing are currently known.
Reports have been made to the Coast Guard.
CSSN report that there is an effort underway to organize dinghy patrols, which should help. Approx. 20% of the anchored/moored boats in the bay were affected.
