More trouble in paradise!
We are sad to report that our friends were robbed of their cruising funds and family jewels while dining on a neighboring yacht. They were anchored in Kuyulubuku commonly known as “Aktur bay”, 10 nm east from Datca.
We were robbed there two years ago so it appears the thieves are still active. They operate the same way as usual: in through the front hatch and they flee with their own boat.
That night, 12 June 2015, there was no moon, so the night was pitch black around 22,00 when the burglary was committed.
From what we gathered, they were the only boat robbed that night. The theft was reported to the Guvenlik.
Prudence would dictate locking of the boat at night from now on. Hatches should also be locked. Preferably stay onboard after dark.
